I went out to the local golf course the other night to shoot this.
I've had a few ideas in my head for a while to do with golf course at night and am looking to carry this on further. It seems really dark on here, so ideally I would like a bit more light on the green and a little more control over the light with multiple flash.
Anyone got a spare £20k I could have? Apparently Tinie Tempah bought the first first pair for £24k. I know it's all for charity, but holy shit that's a lot for a pair of 'sneakers'
Last week I had an excuse being at a car show all weekend, but yesterday I didn't I just straight forgot.
Anyway, hit the link below and you get two photos for the price of one!

I shot this the week before last from my bedroom window. The light broke through the clouds and picked out the bricks on the chimneys on my next-door neighbors roof.
This was shot at the car show and is of one of my all time favourite cars. The detailing that has gone into the whole car is amazing. Here is just a small section of that, but it gives you a bit of a taste.

This gives a pretty cool look into how a ski is made. The 'slap test' is mad! The flex on those skis is mad!

And purely for 'teh lulz' associated with this last weekend and this video...
Check some of the ones I've seen lately after the jump...

I haven't done for a while, but I used to spend a hell of a long time on 28dayslater looking at all the shit that people have gotten into/climbed and photographed from. Some of the crane pictures are awesome!

I put up a thread on a forum I'm on asking about an article I'd seen on there a few years ago, which was subsequently found for me (Famagusta, Cyprus) and it's thrown up some awesome articles on wrecks/ruins/buildings that were never finished.

This artificialowl was put up today and its a gold mine of stuff! Two of my favourites being the guy that wrecked 2 boats on the same reef within 5 years of each other and the Church that was buried by lava!

Six Flags, New Orleans The theme park Six Flags was never re-opened after Katrina, some of these photos are just stunning! (it's a bit of a long article, but well worth a browse)

Lastly, not so much of a photo article, but a pretty weird story for a town in America, Centraliasecondchairearlylunchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01573606818941717888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1049307189570295159.post-62291328335836731292011-08-30T17:37:00.000+01:002011-08-30T17:37:38.981+01:00Tubesday.Wow, it's been a while since I've posted anything on here.
Most of that is due to me being away for nearly two weeks and the rest of it is down to laziness!
Not you typical Tubesday today as I've seen some awesome videos on Vimeo as well, so I've posted them at the bottom as well!

Put this into 1080p and let it buffer. It's awesome!
I love the London Eye. It's over-hyped and always well over crowded but its amazing to see London, a city I'm so used to, from a different angle, which is never a bad thing.

This also must be fullscreened in high-res. Mike Manzoori is a dude! Such a good cameraman/producer. Fully original idea, pulled off amazingly well. I want to try something like this with my photography, but I'm not sure yet as to how...

And just for a bit of idiocy

No explanation needed.

Weirdly cool.
I shot this back on Monday, when we still had sunshine, it's been cloudy/raining the rest of the week.
I've been loving the low sunlight recently and having put my 50mm f1.8 on the other week, its stayed on there and i forgot how much i love it!!
Having just got back from town, I did the usual check the ole Facebook and Twitter and it came up trumps with a couple of cool pieces.
One being an edit of my favourite rider, by a long way, Ruben Alcantara. The other being a collection of WWII photos in colour, shot on the greatest film ever made, Kodachrome.
Enjoy.

Ruben Alcantara Edit
I could watch Ruben edits all day, every day. This kind of riding is just so much better than trying to do as many barspins, whips, flips etc you can do in one line.

WWII Photos
Don't judge me on the fact it's from the Daily Mail. They have an awesome gallery of photos.
There is so much stuff, good and bad, out there that it can be a little overwhelming sometimes. This is by no means a definitive guide to anything, just a selection of articles I've read that I've found pretty cool and thought I would share.

Helsinki Bus Station Theory
It doesn't have to be the Helsinki Theory, it could be based anywhere, but its a nice way of putting things in perspective. I often find myself over critiquing myself with my photos, thinking they are too similar to what I've seen, but that is just the nature of inspiration. Just keep working at things.

Americas Abandonned Buildings
I love wrecked buildings/architectural photography. May have to go out on the search around here.

The Anatomy of a Jib Shoot
Dan Carr has got to be one of my favourite ski photographers, along with Camilla Stoddart, and he has some pretty cool features on his site about how to set up for shoots with lighting/framing, gear, etc. I'm crap when it comes to artificial lighting, so I've been reading a lot about it recently trying to get my head around it all. Check out some of the other Photography 101s on the site as well.

Hmm, I thought I had bookmarked more. If I stumble across any others, I'll stick them up here.
Can't believe it though, 3 posts in as many days! There must be something wrong with me.

I met Piers at uni in my first year on the ski trip and we quickly found we had a hell of a lot in common.
Having spent enough time with him, climbing, skiing, printing photos in the darkrooms or even just chatting shit with a cuppa in hand, I have to say he is one of the most self motivated people I know.
Be kind this is the first interview I've done, its nothing serious, just finding out a bit more about Piers.

Interview after the jump!

Who are you?

Someone who is lucky to be alive three times over!

What do you do?

Tea Powered Professional Adventure and Portrait Photographer - white with one please!

Years riding/ How did you start?

2 years - best mate encouraged me - One 70 mile ride on my dads Elswick Stag and I was hooked.

Preference?

Road - Touring

Why do you love what you do?
The people and their immense satisfaction when they are pleased with the work I have produced. The places it takes me and the people I meet! Photography is not glamorous. Whoever told you that it all glitz and glam is lying. Its hard work, long hours and wallet draining, but its gives me independence and creativity.

I've always loved the way that you compose your images.
Is there anything particular that you constantly think of when framing?
Perspective! Lead in Lines! Depth of Field, Background distractions and make sure its damn well in focus or it's binned! Oh and that your shutter speed is sufficiently fast enough to be able to hand hold it!

What has been your favourite/most challenging shoot to date? Go for the double answer!

Favourite - the ones where I'm hanging from a rope on one of my adventures to capture climbers at their limit!

Challenging - not having a nervous breakdown in front of the 66th Secretary of State!

What would be your perfect shoot/dream job?

Already doing it hun!

What do you do/keeps you going when you really just want to say fuck it to all of it?

First I make a cuppa tea and munch on a custard cream, then, go for a ride to clear my head. It can sometimes get a bit too much and you have to remember to give yourself some 'you' time.

I find riding or climbing helps me relax and recharge. When I sit back at my computer, notebook, diary or camera, things become clearer and reminds me that I am not sitting behind a till in Tesco.

It's all fucking rediculous, mindless violence for the sake of it with 'getting our taxes back', 'coz we're poor and haven't got nuffin, like, innit' and 'showing the cops that we can do what we want' being used as excuses.... yay for England! Morons.

Less of that though, its been a decent week in the world of my Youtube viewing, here are my highlights!

It's a random selection
Dave Mirra + rallying + fake boobs = ....
Sorry for the lateness of this, was feeling pretty shite yesterday and kinda forgot to do this, but here it is, just a day later.
I was at 'AwesomeFest' at the weekend, which was, well, awesome!
A mixture of Drift cars, Moto-X, BMX and decent music. Wasn't quite a car show and wasn't quite a Festival. Either way, it was dope, and I got very very sunburnt. So here are some tribute videos.
(I think this is just giving me more reasons to want to go to Japan!)
Check'em out!
I'm away for the weekend, so getting this up earlier rather than when I come back to catch up on things.
I've been with the family this week so tried to get some candid portraits of my sisters kids, but they were having none of it, either outright posing or being too shy/silly to look at the camera.
So I've done something I haven't done for a long time and shot Black and White photos!!
Read more after the jump....

It really has been a long time since I've done anything with B&W, but the weather today was real weird and super hazy which made for washed out colours, so shot away regardless but converted them in Photoshop afterwards. Click the link underneath to see it full size, as this does it no justice.
A lot of tracks feature pretty heavily in ski/snowboard so it's only fitting to throw up some tracks.
Discovered a lot of cool music in 'researching' for this post, which is never a bad thing.
There have been a few videos posted that have auto play which is piss annoying when it starts playing the the background of another video or whatever.
So all posts from now on will have an intro, like the one you're reading and the rest of it will be after the jump.
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

There is some shite song on the playlist of Radio1 at the moment that had sampled Return of the Mack - Mark Morrison, so here is a collection of those fucking sweet songs that everyone knows the words to, but is ashamed of saying that like them. I for one, am not. These songs rule. Bring back 90s rad-ness.
Got a bit carried away, seeing all the linked videos. But enjoy!!

I've posted this before, but it is definitely well worth the re-up!
Had a phone call this evening from a very good friend of mine, Kate, to have a catch up, but during this conversation she told me that she had just ended up with a First class honours from uni and had landed herself a job with the company that inspired her to go to uni in the first place. So fucking stoked for her!
Anyway, check out her Vimeo account via that link and enjoy some simply stunning pieces.secondchairearlylunchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01573606818941717888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1049307189570295159.post-46717448750093229542011-07-08T11:45:00.000+01:002011-07-08T11:45:29.741+01:00Photo Phriday. It's that time again.

I'm really getting into this.
I was taking with a friend the other day and I am feeling a lot more stoked on my photography at the moment. I think I got a bit bogged down with it all at Uni having to constantly rush for deadlines etc, but now I'm on my own time scale ideas are flowing a lot more and I can shoot what I want to shoot without having to do project briefs set for me.
Todays photo was shot last weekend when I went to the British Super Bikes at Snetterton track. Was an awesome day out shooting a sport I had never been to see let alone photograph anything like it before. Was a challenge, but I loved every second of shooting.
Also, saw an old friend in town today and he was talking about a tutor at my old 6th form college and his work. His named had popped up on my flickr homepage a few days ago, so checked his work and fell in love with this project.
